Environmental Technology of Mazda!!!

Mazda is always working hard to develop environmental technologies which will contribute to an exciting and sustainable future for people, automobiles, and the Earth. 

Idling Stop Technology

Idling stop systems save fuel by automatically shutting down the engine when the vehicle is static and restarting it when the vehicle returns to motion. This Technology of Mazda improves fuel economy by approximately eight percent. Mazda’s i-stop restarts the engine through combustion. 

This technology enables the system to restart the engine with exactly the same timing every time, to enhance fuel economy, and to deliver smooth and comfortable acceleration for the driver at restart. The restart takes place in a mere 0.35 seconds, which is about half of the time taken by conventional starter-motor idling stop systems. 

Brake Energy Regeneration System

Brake energy regeneration systems convert a vehicle’s kinetic energy into electricity as the car decelerates. The electricity is then stored for later use. It can be used to power the headlights, climate control, audio system, or any other electrical equipment. This reduces the need for the engine to burn extra fuel in order to generate electricity, and thereby improves fuel economy. 

Electric Vehicle

Mazda undertook development of electric vehicles with the aim of offering all our customers fun-to-drive performance and outstanding environmental and safety performance. The result is the Demio EV which offers both the sporty driving people expect from Mazda and a remarkable driving range of 200 km. 

Electric vehicles have batteries and electric motors instead of engines and fuel tanks, and are powered entirely by electricity. The Demio EV features a unique coil-switching motor which delivers both high torque and high RPMs. Another special feature of electric vehicles is the quietude of the cabin due to the complete lack of engine noise.

Hydrogen Vehicle

Mazda’s hydrogen rotary engine use hydrogen as its fuel, emits no CO2 and offers superb environmental performance. A dual-fuel system allows the vehicle to run on either gasoline or hydrogen. The RENESIS hydrogen rotary engine employs direct injection, with an electronically-controlled hydrogen gas injector.

The Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid combines Mazda’s hydrogen rotary engine with a hybrid system for significantly improved performance and practicality. The engine’s reduced intake/exhaust resistance and improved combustion efficiency yields high power output across a wide range of engine speeds.

Bio-based Engineering Plastic

Bio-based Engineering Plastic that can reduce its impact on the environment featuring high-quality finish made from plant derived materials. Mazda has succeeded in developing the automotive industry’s first high-strength heat-resistant plant-derived bioplastic for auto interior parts, and the world’s first biofabric for vehicle seat upholstery made entirely from plant-derived fiber.

This bio-based engineering plastic is used for the first time for interior parts for the all-new Mazda MX-5 was launched globally in 2015. Moving forward, it will be used for exterior parts in other production models due to the outstanding durability.

SELF-HEALING SCRATCH SHIELD

Scratch recovery clear (SRC) uses the elasticity of special chemically composed matters in a clear paint that has self-healing properties. Scratches are automatically fixed over a period of time.

Scratch Shield is a clearcoat that is more scratch resistant compared with conventional clearcoats, helping a vehicle maintain its new look for a longer period of time. The paint also repairs fine scratches, restoring a vehicle’s surface close to its original state. Nissan will continue to expand the adoption of Scratch Shield globally.

A special highly elastic resin has been combined with a conventional clearcoat to increase the paint’s flexibility. This has also increased its strength by raising the resin density.

-The paint does not self-repair if scratches are deep enough to sever the bonds within the clearcoat or if the clearcoat has been peeled off.
-The amount of time required for self-repair depends on the surrounding temperature and the depth of the scratch. In some cases, restoration may take up to one week.

SOLAR CELL SUNROOF

Solar cells are a representative form of environmentally-friendly and renewable energy. We are applying solar cells to automobile sunroofs and using the A/C fan operation to reduce the A/C load during summertime while enhancing cooling performance and cooling fuel efficiency.

While solar is great as a source of energy and something we follow diligently here, it requires a great deal of space to make it worthwhile for transportation applications. In reality, not much power would have been gained. The previous panels were 50watts or about a 6th of a solid 3’x5′ solar panel. It will reportedly be able to charge your battery pack to contribute to the vehicle’s electric range.

NANO GLASS (WIPERLESS VEHICLES)

Nanotechnology is utilized to automatically remove water or dust from the front windshield without the need for wipers. Space holographic technology is a progressive technology that displays various driving and driver convenience information on the front windshield in the form of a 3D hologram.

How does it work?

The windshield is made of a special glass with four high-tech layers that change the characteristics of glass at the molecular level.

The outermost layer is based on titanium dioxide: filters the sun and waterproofs the windshield.

The second layer of glass is actually made up of microscopic dust pushing dirt on the sides of the glass.

The third layer contains sensors that sense the dirtiness and wetness of the windshield.

Like an LCD display, the fourth layer conducts electricity, needed to power this complex multilayer windshield.

HONEYCOMB TIRES

The non-pneumatic tires eliminate the possibility of flat tires with its special honeycomb-shaped tires or wheels that are covered in rubber on the outside.

Seat Adjustments

1.  Adjusting the Seat Distance

The seat should always be positioned with regard to the pedals. Press the brake pedal fully with your right foot and fully depress the clutch dead pedal.


2. Adjust the rake of the seat

This should be as parallel as possible to the steering. It is impossible to reach a perfect adjustment but by adjusting the rake of the seat to an upright angle of about 110-95 degrees, we can reach a suitable adjustment.


3. Adjust the seat height

This should allow us to see forward clearly, while still having a clear view of the dashboard, and proper height relative to the wheel and pedals.


4. Adjust the head restraints

Place the headrest to a height just above your eyelids, and (more importantly) — as close to the head as possible (2-3cm). A head-restraint further than 7 centimeter (2.8 in) increases the risk of whiplash.


5. Adjust the steering height

The steering height should be adjusted to as parallel to back angle, and to a clear view of the dashboard through the rim. The ideal adjustment should also allow us to grip the wheel properly (at 9 and 3, see below), with our palms just lower than our shoulders.

As we know Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system (MIVEC) is the brand name of a variable valve timing (VVT) engine technology developed by Mitsubishi Motors.

In the above picture, you can see there are two separate cam shafts riding atop the head. For DOHC heads, the cams can be tied together with a short chain, then have a separate chain/belt which drives the cams, or can have just a single chain/belt which runs the whole thing. DOHC engines usually have a configuration of 2-intake and 2-exhaust valves per cylinder uses a five valve per cylinder (3-intake and 2 exhausts). In most cases, the cam directly actuates the valve without the use of a rocker arm.

All engines developed within this family have aluminum cylinder block and head, four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshaft layouts, and MIVEC continuous variable valve timing. All variations of 4B1 engine share the same short block. The difference in displacement is achieved by variance in bore and stroke.

The 4B1 engine family is the first to have the continuously variable valve timing MIVEC system applied not only to its intake valves but also to its exhaust valves. The intake and exhaust cam timing is continuously independently controlled and provide four optimized engine operating modes.

The 4B1 MIVEC engine series used in the Outlander, as well as the Japanese-market Delica D:5 and Galant Fortis models, uses the continuously variable intake and exhaust valve timing MIVEC system that continuously and optimally controls the intake and exhaust valve timing according to engine running conditions. This system delivers high performance and fuel efficiency.

Continuously controlling the intake cam and exhaust cams independently, this system provides a combination of maximum power output, high fuel efficiency, and a high level of environmental performance by making possible more precise valve control according to RPM and engine load than intake-only systems.

The Mitsubishi 3B2 engine is a family of all-alloy three cylinder engines developed by Mitsubishi Motors. The preliminary version of the 659 cc engine was first seen in the “i” Concept test car introduced in 2003 and used Mitsubishi’s Smart Idling system which turns off the engine automatically when the vehicle is stationary and can restart it within 0.2 seconds. So equipped, Mitsubishi claimed the prototype was capable of fulfilling the “three liter initiative” for gasoline engines, meaning fuel consumption of no more than 3.0 liters per 100 kilometers (94.2 mpg, 78.4 U.S. mpg). Chrysler Town & Country cars – Woodie Years

In the modern age, we see all stylish metallic body cars with a wide variety of colors. During 1940 -1950, Chrysler Town & Country manufactured two famous Woodie cars with a steel roof.

  1. 1942 Chrysler Town & Country (pre-war)
  2. 1948 Chrysler Town & Country (post-war)

Chrysler’s Town & Country wagon was distinguished by woodgrain paneling on the body sides and tailgate, a feature also associated with competitive wagons such as the AMC Ambassador, Buick Estate, Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, Ford Country Squire, and the Mercury Colony Park.

They made their debut with 4 door wagon body styles with 8 passengers. The wagon was front engine, rear wheel drive layout (FR Layout), a traditional automobile layout for most of the cars during those times.

It used the roof of the concurrent Chrysler Imperial 4-door 8-passenger limousine, which led to a rear loading configuration with wooden double doors (also called ‘Barrel Back‘ doors) that opened out from the center beneath the fixed backlight (rear window). We are particularly drawn to the pre-war fastback sedans, which themselves played a part in replacing wood with metal. They were the first Woodie long-roofs to have an all-steel roof.

The 1942 model year Town & Country had an abbreviated production run due to the World War II. Less than one-thousand units had been produced since the vehicle’s introduction a year earlier.

During 1946 Town & Country nameplate returned with 4-door sedan and 2-door convertible. Chrysler built seven pre-production Town & Country cars of 2-door hardtop body style during the 1946 model year and went into full production during four model years later (1950).

The 1948 Chrysler Town & Country had 2-door convertible from a 4-door sedan with just very few improvements. It had the same front engine, rear wheel drive layout (FR Layout). It was quite relative to Chrysler Imperial, Chrysler Windsor, and DeSoto Custom.

The 1950 Town & Country 2-door hardtop was the last true original Woodie offering, ever, during its one-model-year production run.
